1. Brighten Your Locks
Nothing says ‘summer’ quite like some highlights! Breathe some life into your mane with foils, or opt for a beachier look with on-trend balayage. Every time you look in the mirror you’ll instantly be transported back to those long, lazy days on the sand.

2. Fake It Till You Make It
With all the crazy-good fake tans available these days, why would you bother putting your skin and your health at risk? Try gradual tanning lotion (Jergens Natural Glow is our favourite) for a subtle tan, or go darker with a spray, foam or mousse. 3. Ditch the Razor
Now that you’ve got enviably tanned skin, you don’t want unsightly fuzz or ingrown hairs ruining your sun goddess image, do you? You could wax, sure, but that’s only going to keep those prickles at bay temporarily. Work towards hairless skin for good with laser hair removal and bid adieu to your razor and your waxing lady once and for all. Trust us, a few sessions in and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
4. Tweak Your Diet
You’ve probably had your mum, grandma, aunt or other maternal figure tell you at least once in your life that beauty comes from within. It sounds like a cliché, sure, but they actually had a point.
Fill your diet with foods rich in vitamins C (you know where to find this one!), vitamin E (found in veggie oils, nuts, seeds, avo and salmon) and anti-ageing antioxidants (berries, dark chocolate and pecans) and your body will repay you with a glowing visage.
Oh, and don’t forget about water! H2O feeds your skin cells, increasing elasticity (thus potentially delaying the appearance of wrinkles), flushing out toxins and reducing inflammation.
5. Moisturise, Moisturise, and Moisturise Some More
Summer can have wreak havoc on your skin, whether it’s the moisture-stripping dry heat or the dehydrating humidity. Oh, and don’t get us started on air con. Keep your skin supple and happy by moisturising regularly – once a day for oily skin and at least twice a day for normal to dry skin – and treating yourself to a hydrating facial once a month. Preparing your skin now will also minimise the harsh effects of the chilly winter winds around the corner.
6. Don’t Skimp on the SPF
Yeah, yeah, you’ve heard it countless times before, but if you want to keep that summer glow, maintain as strict an SPF regime throughout the year as you do from December through February. The old adage ‘prevention is better than cure’ is true: sun exposure is by far the most common cause of premature ageing, not to mention pigmentation and, unfortunately, skin cancer. Opt for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 for the best possible protection and to keep your skin looking youthful, bright and dewy for years to come.
