The Must-Try Eastern Mediterranean Restaurant In Sydney

Tucked away in the inner-west’s Marrickville, just a stone’s throw from local institution Vic on the Park, is Barzaari. In this humble writer’s opinion, some of the best Eastern Mediterranean fare you’ll find in this part of the world.

Their atmosphere is luxe, but accessible and their dishes designed to share. Add seasoned chef/co-owner Darryl Martin (Three Weeds, Quay, Omage) and warm hospitality and you have yourself a winner. The place is usually packed with locals and foodies (a 4.5 star Google rating doesn’t lie), so be sure to book ahead.

With plenty of droolworthy vegetarian options – their fried brussel sprouts are life-changing – we can’t finish this review without recommending the lamb shoulder with whipped feta and harissa. Though to be honest, we’d be happy with their pita bread alone.

But don’t take out word for it, try it yourself! Check out this offer of a delicious five-dish shared lunch or dinner with a glass of wine each.
