The nine hour slow roasted lamb, infused with garlic, chilli, almonds, rocket, hummus and red capsicum on sourdough will hit the spot… and then hit more spots you didn’t know you had, it’s that good.
- Enjoy breakfast with a view devouring Four Frogs Creperie’s Crepes – Within earshot of the ocean, away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD, Mosman’s leaders in crepes offer up a mouth-watering prosciutto, tomato, Swiss cheese and basil combination that will get your day started right.
- Try a Nepalese breakfast with the End of King’s Smokestack – Good breakfasts in Sydney are a given, which makes this quaint Newtown hotspot all the more remarkable. Head Chef and Owner hail from Nepal and have created Eastern infused breakfasts that are simply too good to leave off the list.
- That’ll do pig…that’ll do. The Pig and Pastry’s Sweet Corn Fritters – It’s the simple things in life, like a simply brilliant dish from Petersham’s finest. When you put ‘pig’ in your name you need to back it up and the bacon does not disappoint. The sweet corn fritters with crispy bacon and avocado salsa are enough to make a vegetarian rethink their food choices.
- Take a culinary trip to South East Asia – Pork Rolls from Marrickville Pork Rolls are an Inner West institution. Simple by name but anything but by flavour. These $4.50 pork rolls will cause all other pork rolls to become redundant. There’s no going back after these freshly made delicacies enter your world.
- Follow in the footsteps of celebrities – try Harry’s Café De Wheels Tiger Pie – Sure it might be a little mainstream but if it’s good enough for a whole range of A-listers then consider this a classic hiding in plain sight. Laurina the Bachelorette didn’t want a piece of it but she missed out. The Tiger Pie, complete with beef, mushy peas, mash and gravy is a Sydney classic.
- Enjoy award winning Gelato with Cow and Moon’s finest – Sure it might not be a ‘traditional’ brunch but when the venue has recently been name the World’s Best Gelato you can afford to bend the rules. Grab a coffee to get your day started and get stuck into an almond affogato gelato for Sydney’s ultimate sweet treat.
- Roll up Roll up! – Bourke Street Bakeries’ Pork and Fennel Sausage Roll – Size isn’t everything, at least not for this little bakery that could which rolls out the best sausage rolls in the city. We’ll sneak in a sly mention of the Crème Brule tarts while we’re at it.
- Meet the Muffin Man at Tripod Café – This Abercrombie Street mainstay does incredible muffins, there we said it. Throw in a perfectly poached egg on a strangely delicious quinoa cake and you’ve got a story to tell. Trust us on this one. It’s incredible.
- Go nuts for Cronuts at Brewtown Newtown – A mixture of a croissant and a donut on a must eat list? You better believe it. Get your hands on a Nutella Cronut and tell us we’re wrong. Then sit back down and try the Nutella and Hazelnut Crunch Cruffin, Is it a croissant or a muffin? Who knows, but it is yum.
- Indulge your ultimate sweet tooth with Café C’s Mars Thick shake – Tucked away in Newtown this café masquerades as your average coffee and cake local. But in reality it serves the thickest, most amazing, flavour exploding thick shakes of your life. In both Snickers flavour and Mars, if you don’t do this for yourself at least do it for your kids, this one needs to be tried.
- Enjoy a world of flavour with Chur Burger’s Pulled Pork Burger – If the line out the door doesn’t tell you you’re onto a winner, the pulled pork burger will. Served with chur’s own BBQ sauce, red slaw and fennel mayo, this may be the one burger to rule them all.
- Become part of an Inner West tradition with Mary’s Burger – If Chur Burger wants the crown though it’ll be Mary’s own self-titled burger that will be fighting for it. Masters of Booze and burgers (not to mention a solid fried chicken) this Newtown establishment is renowned for its big burgers, deservedly so.
- Claim your throne and live like a King – Sydney Dumpling King’s 20 assorted dumplings – Dumplings are subjective so we’ll go ahead and settle the debate, Burwood has been hiding Sydney’s best. The assorted plate offers 20 dumplings in a lucky dip of flavour. Check it out and thank us later.
- Enjoy a classic Sydney café experience with Rustic Pearl’s Eggs Benedict with Ocean Trout, Bacon or Lobster – Sydney is full of café’s and at Rustic Pearls you get an example of café perfection. Huge chunks of lobster pop in your mouth with succulent hollandaise and avocado flavours to match.
- Forget fast food exists with Bar Contessa’s Deluxe Cheeseburger – If ‘Cheeseburger’ conjures up fatty fast food then wash your mouth out, preferably with this Balmain establishment’s burger. It’s loaded with flavour and rich, fresh ingredients. Plus if it’s not too hipster for you they do $2 babycinos and who doesn’t want to see that.
- Enjoy a life aquatic. Flying Fish’s Seared Yellow-fin Tuna – It’s hatted and sits on the water at Pyrmont. What’s a Sydney bucket list food guide without seafood? Splurge a little and enjoy the perfection that is the seared yellow-fin tuna. It’s paired with pork belly which may seem odd but the taste is anything but. Add a layer of black pepper caramel and you have a truly memorable dish.
- Bite off more than you can chew with Goni Schnitzelria’s Greek Schnitzel – Ask anyone in Sydney where you can get the biggest schnitzels, the best value schnitzels and the most unique schnitzel varieties. All three answers are the same, Goni’s. Dripping in melted fetta, olives and a tangy tomato sauce this is not to be missed.
- Go Loco at El Loco’s – Cheap does not equate to a lack of flavour in this Mexican maelstrom of food. For just $9 chow down on a huge grilled pork frankfurt, smothered in wafer thin, finely grated queso fresca cheese with salsa, mayonnaise and jalapenos.
- Experience Kings Cross Cuisine with the Farmhouse main course – Soak up the area’s turbulent history if you’ve got the urge to splurge and experience the culinary delight that is Farmhouse. The rotating mains mean you’ll always be surprised and delighted but the current whole baked rainbow trout with roasted peppers and red gherkins will take some beating.
- Dine in the middle of a live music event as you sample Jazsushi’s Chef Selection – Incredible traditional Japanese cuisine with a Eurasian flare. It’s not just the live jazz that makes this place a must see, it’s the $40 Chef’s selection Sushi Set that will have you blowing your trumpet in joy.
- Splurge Sydney style with Rockpool’s Grass Fed Medium Rare Sirloin Steak – it’s mainstream but there’s a reason for that. Neil Perry knows his stuff and the moment that tender, juicy steak hits your lips you’ll wonder how you’ll ever go back from such fine dining, a lifetime of this might hit the wallet hard, but it’s worth it.
- Game, Set Menu, Match – We won’t even tell you what to pick within the Bistro Papillion’s set menu, all we’ll say is for $70 you get the most jaw dropping, mouth-watering options. There is a reason this consistently rates so highly by reviewers from around the globe. Do not miss it!
